Intel this week to confirm TSMC's Atom processor system with single-chip co-operation be suspended. The lack of customer demand is the main reason leading to the suspension of co-operation.
Intel hopes that Atom notebook computers, mobile phones, consumer electronics devices such as field applied. Intel and TSMC partnership will allow customers to add new features for the Atom, models like ARM processor.
Science and technology market research firm In-Stat analyst said Intel SoC model adopted to deal with consumer electronics products, but requires changes in the pattern for each type of device manufacturing process and other changes beyond the capabilities of Intel's.
Intel announced in March last year, will work with TSMC solution. According to a memorandum of cooperation signed by both parties, to Intel's Atom processor CPU core will be covered with TSMC processes, IP, database and technology platform to integrate the design process. Intel has said that bilateral cooperation will increase the supply of Atom, as well as applications.
