The Chinese central government provided 28.6 billion yuan (4.2 billion) available to assist farmers, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement released Monday.
Most of the money - 18.6 billion yuan - would be used by farmers in the cultivation of improved varieties of plants such as rice, corn subsidies and cotton.
The remaining 10 billion yuan would be to subsidize the purchase of agricultural machinery such as planters and machinery, the statement said Xinhua.
Funding to improve incentives for agricultural production and stabilizing the grain production in the country, the statement said.
Farmers across the country will be eligible for funding.
The funding was more than 86.7 billion yuan of subsidies to grain farmers cultivated nationally in February.
Financial support for agriculture has been pursued as a serious drought in the west and south.
