Production of cars in China and sales more than doubled in January and reached a record high after the government extended the rehabilitation program by the end of this year.

The total vehicle production and sales in the country reached 1.61 million and 1.66 million respectively in January to 143 percent and 124 percent over the previous year, said that China's car yesterday.
