Sydney economic relations with China from a new partnership with the city of Chongqing, growing Mayor Clover Moore said Tuesday.
The Sydney Chongqing Business Forum here in the coming weeks, will focus on developing and strengthening economic relations between the two cities.
Representatives of some industries, including financial services, banking, automotive, chemical and electrical engineering will discuss business opportunities.
Moore said that Sydney has to cooperate with other international cities to stimulate the economy.
To determine the status of Sydney as a world city, we need new relations between the governments of the city at various levels and the economy, he said.
A friendly cooperation that is supported by the government of New South Wales would be signed by the City of Sydney and Chongqing to promote and develop friendship and cooperation.
Chongqing is the city's largest and most populous China with 32 million people live in the area.
